Embossed crosses on front with gold and silver lettering on spine. Dust jacket is good with chipping along top and bottom. Spine is worn with a missing top corner piece and missing a piece at the bottom of spine. A few small tears with wear along the hinges front and back. Inside flap retains $4.75 price with 8/54 at bottom. This book won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

Front and back boards show average shelf wear with very light ink (?) splash on front board. This is a solid First American Edition of an important book written in the maddening, heretical style that Celine was known for.

Description: Very good in good dust jacket. Book shows very light wear. Binding is strong with no tilt. Pages are very slightly yellowed at edges. 383 pg. Uncommon variant issue with green lettering on the spine on dark blue cloth with no topstain. This is one of nine reported variants, all of them scarcer than the primary binding of black cloth with gold lettering and red topstain. The dust jacket is good with moderate chipping and wrinkling along the top and bottom edges, specifically the spine area. There is a small corner tear on back lower outside corner and a small piece is missing from top outside corner. The DJ is the first state dust jacket with 8 titles listed on the back beginning with "Storm." Front of jacket has "And Other Stories" under "Moses". (This was removed from later issues.) Dust jacket is neatly price-clipped. First Printing stated on copyright page. This is a very good collectible example of one of the great books in American literature.

On the title page there is a dated inscription to a well-known Seattle book dealer signed by Tom Clark. So, three signatures, a piece of original art and a hand written poem all in one book. Truly a one of a kind book. A highly collectible Tom Clark book.
